Zakat Initiative (ZI)
The Zakat Initiative is AFN Foundation’s structured approach to ensuring that Zakat contributions from Muslims are channeled into sustainable, impactful projects. It is designed to align strictly with Islamic principles while addressing the socioeconomic needs of vulnerable communities across Northern Nigeria.
About the project
Objectives:
Provide a transparent, Shariah-compliant platform for Muslims to fulfill their Zakat obligations.
Direct Zakat funds into life-changing programs in healthcare, education, and livelihood support.
Bridge the gap between donors and beneficiaries with clarity, accountability, and impact.
Approach:
AFN Foundation works with Islamic scholars and community leaders to ensure full compliance with Zakat guidelines. Collected funds are carefully allocated to critical interventions such as school scholarships, medical relief, food security, and micro-enterprise support. All activities are documented and shared with donors to maintain trust and accountability.
Expected Impact:
Empowered families with access to essentials and tools for self-reliance.
Increased donor confidence through transparent reporting and measurable outcomes.
A replicable model of Zakat deployment for faith-driven social development.
"Charity extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire."
